Galen, the privately-owned pharmaceutical sales and marketing company and founding member of the Almac Group, is proud to announce Stacey Cummings as the recipient of the 2024  Paramedic Science Award for Extraordinary Peer Support, Enhancing the Potential of Others. The award ceremony took place in The Great Hall, Martha Magee building at Ulster University’s Derry/Londonderry campus on Friday, the 29th of November.

This award, part of a three-year partnership with Ulster University, highlights Galen’s commitment to supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals in emergency care. The Paramedic Science Award celebrates individuals who exemplify outstanding peer support and enhance the potential  of their fellow students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mark O'Connor, Galen’s Sales Manager, who presented the award to Stacey, said: “We are immensely proud to present this award to Stacey Cummings. Her dedication to supporting her peers and enhancing their potential truly embodies the spirit of this award. Stacey's exceptional contributions have made a significant impact on her cohort, and we look forward to seeing her continued success in the field of emergency medical care.”

Stacey Cummings, the award winner, expressed her gratitude: “Receiving this award is an incredible honour. Supporting my peers has always been important to me, and to be recognised for it is truly humbling. This experience has not only enriched my journey but has also strengthened our collective commitment to providing the best possible care.”

The BSc Hons Paramedic Science course, launched in 2021, aims to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for emergency medical care. This winter marks the graduation of the first cohort of 40 students, a significant milestone for the programme.
