Galen is proud to announce that Shane Devlin has been awarded the 2025 Dr John Hinds Scholarship, in partnership with the College of Paramedics. This prestigious award honours the legacy of Dr John Hinds, a pioneering figure in prehospital emergency medicine whose passion and advocacy continue to inspire paramedics across the island of Ireland.
The honours awards ceremony took place on 25th July 2025 at Keele University, Staffordshire, where Shane was formally recognised for his achievement.
As this year’s recipient, Shane will receive a fully funded place on the renowned Advanced Trauma and Critical Care (ATACC) three-day course in the UK, widely regarded as one of the most advanced trauma training programmes available. In addition, Shane’s experience will be featured in the College of Paramedics’ magazine, Paramedic INSIGHT.
Reflecting on the award, Shane said:
“It is a great honour to receive the Dr John Hinds Scholarship award, in memory of a man who had such an impact on prehospital care in Ireland and across the world. I am very excited to attend the ATACC course and learn from so many great practitioners that he inspired. Thank you to the College of Paramedics and Galen for this amazing opportunity.”
Dennise Broderick, Managing Director and President of Galen, added:
“We are delighted to support this important initiative once again and to recognise Shane’s commitment to advancing prehospital care. The John Hinds Scholarship continues to celebrate the spirit of excellence, compassion, and innovation that Dr Hinds embodied, and we are proud to help carry that legacy forward.”
