Galen, the privately-owned pharmaceutical sales and marketing company, and founding member of the Almac Group, has announced a three-year partnership with Ulster University to support a new award for the BSc Hons Paramedic Science programme.
Galen is sponsoring the “Paramedic Science Award for Extraordinary Peer Support, Enhancing the Potential of Others,” highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals in emergency care, which will be presented at the student awards ceremony in November.
The course, which is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to excel in emergency medical care, will see the first cohort of 40 students graduate this winter, following the launch in 2021.
Speaking about the partnership, Galen’s Managing Director and President Dennise Broderick said: “We are delighted to partner with Ulster University. This collaboration aims to enhance the educational experience of future paramedics and contribute to the development and advancement of emergency medical services in Northern Ireland. This partnership aligns with Galen’s mission to make a meaningful impact on healthcare outcomes and benefit the health of future generations.”
Andrew Chambers, Course Director BSc Paramedic Science at Ulster University added: “At Ulster University we place a great deal of emphasis on the university core values of Integrity, Collaboration, Enhancing Potential and Inclusion. I am therefore delighted to welcome this partnership with Galen which has at its core an Award that celebrates the way in which our paramedic students have collectively worked together to enhance the potential of each other during the course of their studies. This Award not only encourages further collaboration and teamwork, it also provides an impetus to help improve the educational experiences of our students which in turn will hopefully result in them being able to provide a higher quality of care to the people of Northern Ireland and beyond.”
